YNP Top 10

Wolf Cub Howling in Yellowstone National Park

We love a good “Yellowstone Top 10 List”. And our guide and proprietor, Rod Tripp certainly knows his way around Yellowstone National Park having guided here for years. So when he gave up his Top Ten list, I could hardly believe we were gonna get to share this with you all! So with out further ado…here we go! Hope you get to add some of these to your bucket list!

1) A 7 day backcountry canoe trip into the paddle-zone-only in the South Arm of Yellowstone Lake.  Wildflowers like you've never seen, wolves howling at night, elk surrounding camp in the morning, and HUGE fish to be caught on a dry fly.......And you have it all to yourself.

2) Hike up to Trout Lake during the cutthroat spawn and practice noodling.

3) Being in Lamar Valley before sunrise on any day, but especially when the elk are calving and watching grizzly bears and wolves hunting for elk calves.

4)  Lake Hotel after a bus has arrived with 50 customers who are destroying the bathrooms, and taking our customers, not to the secret bathroom, but the super secret bathroom.

5)   Viewing the Lower Falls from one of my favorite spots early in the morning when nobody else is there.

6)  Hot cup of coffee early morning at Lake Hotel watching the sunrise over Yellowstone Lake

7)  The secret bench watching Old Faithful in the rain and being protected from the wind and rain without anyone else around, and about 12 steps from another secret bathroom.

8)  Spotting a grizzly bear among some bison, we are watching the bear while hundreds of tourists drive by because the bear looks so similar to the bison and nobody else notices.

9)  Watching wolf pups get fed at one of the den sites.

10)  Camping with family and friends either in the backcountry or our favorite campground.
